Rich's SF Build

Great pics Rich. So what is the realistic spread of a kessil 360? How many would I need on a 48x24 SPS tank?

They say the 360W will easily cover 24x24 but that is at 8-10 inches off the water. You'll get more coverage if you raise it to 10-12. I'm not exactly sure of the coverage of the 360N but I think it's 20x20 at 8 inches. I'd go with the wide. I would also call them directly to see what the recommend. The nice thing about them is you will get a sales guy on the first ring without any hassle. He was also involved with the design process so you can ask as many tech questions as you want.

My guess is that you will only "need" two but a third might not hurt. Let us know what they say

Rich, would you recommend the 360W for an sps heavy 24X24 cube?

Also, have you done any par measurements with the lights? My only concern is that directly under the canon, you have 1000 par, then 12" to either side a drastic drop off.

I'm really considering this light because I am really digging the color in your photos and it can be controlled via apex.

My tank is 24x30x16 and I have just the one. My light hangs about 12 inches from the water. I have montis growing well on the sandbed. I have millis about midway up the tank and I have more light demanding acros about 2/3 of the way up. Everything is holding its color and encrusting over the rockwork. I have thought about adding a second light but more because of the fact that the Kessils are single point light sources so you can potentially get shading on the underside of a colony if you don't get the perfect placement.

The reason why I suggest calling Kessil is because if the maker and seller of the light tells you not to spend another $450 to get a second one it makes you feel a little bit better. Its in their best interest to tell you you'll need two, but they are pretty honest. Their customer service is top notch. One thing that happened early on was I had a bad heat sensing chip in my first light and instead of having me box up the light and wait for a replacement to come it they sent me a new light first so there was no gap.

If anyone has any other Kessil questions shoot me a PM or start a thread. This is my eye candy thread :) lol

Haha my pockets are only so deep. I got a few things coming in this week though. You've heard of the bounce shroom or godspawn?

Yeah only so deep...considering the corals and nems you are buying, I would say they are deeper then most. Yes that shroom is very cool, looking forward to photos.

The Omega Mauls have died

But I have been adding a few other nice pieces

ARC Poinsettias

CC Darth Maul Favia (it's starting to get a dual rim with green on the inside and red on the outside)

No Namers (that I know of)

WWC Grafted Cap

Another No namer (That I know of)

Wow; just when I think that your collection has peaked, you get all of that..... Incredible, Rich!

This guy is becoming one of my favorites. I even took a great all blue LED pic for all you oversaturaters out there.
