Ome serious system upgrades are underway!

I will be moving in April and am going to take the opportunity to change some things about my setup. I will be building a custom stand (48"×24"×36") to hold two 30 gallon rimless deep blue displays. I currently have a 25 gallon Mr. Aqua rimless and a 11 gallon advanced acrylics frag tank. One of the tanks will be strictly SPS and the other will house LPS and softies. I'm hoping to do a little mini predator setup in the softies. It'll likely house a dwarf lion, possibly a centropyge, and I may move my GDM over to that tank.

The sump will be a synergy system sump (which I already have), and I'll be replacing my RKE with an Apex Gold (already have).

Today I purchased a Vertex Omega 150. I was leaning towards the BK double cone 150 but found a good deal on the Vertex. Tomorrow I will be placing an order for an Apex Dos, extra EB8, and a Vertex Vectra 150.

After I return from the honeymoon I will be purchasing Vertex Libra dosing containers, Vertex RX-U 1.5 L Media reactors, Apex AFS, and Apex Leak Detection Probes.

I already have the 20"×20"×16" deep blue to replace my frag tank. I will be picking up the 20×20×20 deep blue rimless RR to replace my display whenever I can make it out to Aquapros.

The plan is to get the stand built, sump, equipment, electrical panel, and plumbing setup and store it until I'm ready to move. I will be moving in April but my current lease doesn't end until end of May. This way I can setup the tank in the new place, and then transfer the livestock over instead of having to transport everything over.

I'll begin working on the stand as soon as I get back from my honeymoon and will start documenting the build process then.

This week I got in all of my key plumbing pieces (red for return, white for drain). I still need 1 more 3/4" true union ball valve which is on its way.

Ordered a Vertex vectra 150, 2 × Vertex RX-U 1.5 L Talls, 2 × Vertex Libra dosing containers. All that's left are a few Apex goodies, the new display tank, and construction of the stand

I've been strongly toying with the idea of going with an ATI 24" Powermodule LED. However my tank is only 20"×20" and would leave me overhang on each side, and I'm not sure how that'll look.

Any thoughts?

The ATI is nice, but to avoid the "overspill" you'd probably want to somehow shield 2" on each end....maybe put it in some kind of oversized hood?

That said, most rimless seem to use "undersized hoods" and let the light spill out to the edges of the tank...like MMreef's

I guess if I were going to consider making a hood (to shield the "overspill") then I'd probably make my own T5 LED combo...maybe an AI Prime (or Hydra 26) with 2 24" ATI blueplus

Kinda like I did on my 55 :)

Thanks for the references! Unfortunately I think I'm going to pass on the ATI. I'd love to try one but I don't think I'd be happy with the look over the tank. I have a bit of ocd and my display setup consists of 2 rimless 30 gallons and I certainly can't afford to throw two ATI led hybrids over them. It'd drive me crazy if they didn't match.

I like the kessil I have on my frag tank so I'll likely go with 2 A360wEs

Well I think I lost my black leopard. I haven't seen him all week. I'm assuming he jumped, but I can't find him anywhere on the floor. I'm so bummed this guy was awesome he ate everything and was super active. Him and my yellow Corin wrasse were inseperable.

But in more positive news my blue gomezi finally seems to be taking off after almost 2 years of no growth

Hes probably under the sand they dissapear time to time specially if somebody picking on him or hes going through changes had ine dissapear once saw the male blue star harassing the female then she dissapeared got pissed gave male away after week then next day i came home and was feeding fish sat there watched the male eat then was like wtf i gave u away yesterday lol dam female turned male

Well I certainly hope you're right! Now that I think about it I haven't seen him since my gig got caught in my MP10 so maybe all that commotion freaked him out a bit.

Opened up some of the boxes and boy is Vertex nice! Great craftsmanship makes me wish I didn't have to wait until April to get this upgrade going!

I got home from my bachelor party this weekend and found my black leopard swimming around! After 2 weeks of absence I had written him off. He looks a little beat up, and unfortunately I don't have a qt setup to treat him with medication. So, I'm hoping with some good strong feeding I can bolster his immune system enough to recover. It looks like the flame hawk is picking on him a bit though. There was no aggression prior to his disappearance. So, I'm thinking his time away made it seem like there was a new addition to the flame hawk. I may have to move the flame hawk to my frag tank if things don't settle down.

Finally was able to find myself a sub 2" potters angel (thanks again aquapros!) Pictures to come as soon as he gets a little more adventurous
