Nitrates have dropped under 1 ppm. I'm going to keep going with my current vodka/MB7 dose (1.0 mL, 5 mL), but I'm going to turn the auto-feeders back on.

That's great, just make sure nitrates are at least barely detectable on your tests and you'll be good to go.

Black Friday has got me stuck at a crossroads. I've got two big ticket items remaining for my upgrade: GHL Profilux 2 doser and ATI Dimmable SunPower. I'm not sure which one to pickup! I feel like the ATI's pop up pretty frequently on the used selling forum, and I rarely see the GHL's. But the ATI is a more exciting purchase!

What does everyone dose in their SPS systems? I currently dose Alk, Ca, Vodka, and MB7. Vodka and MB7 are done manually. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to go with the 4 head unit or stick with the 3 head unit. I currently only dose 2 elements and would likely use the 3rd head for vodka dosing if I continue it in the new tank.

I figure if I ever dose any other supplements manual dosing is easy enough. For those of you that will dose anything besides the typical alk, ca, Mg do you do it by hand or with a doser?

That's a hard one. I love my old ATI Sunpower 6-bulb, but I can't live without the GHL Doser2 either. You get German quality on both items. I'm using the 4 channels on my GHL Doser2 right now for Alk, Ca, Mg, and NO3. For the price difference, I'd pick up the 4 doser unit for flexibility. I like it so much I will get a slave unit when they come out for my frag tank. I like to automate everything as much as possible so I can spend less time maintaining and more time enjoying the tank, so if you have decent lights already I'd go with the Doser2.
 
Ya I'll be getting both regardless it's just a matter of which is the wiser black Friday purchase. I'm leaning towards the GHL simply because I know the ATI will pop up on the used section pretty frequently so I could always get a deal that way. There will also be Christmas sales as well.

I'm pretty torn though on the 3 vs 4 head though. I understand the versatility argument but I only intend to dose to supplements currently. So the 3 already gives me a spare pump. The 4 would give me 2 spare heads. And I can always add a slave unit. If I dose anything else it'll like be on of the coral color programs which is typically 3 supplements so either way I wouldn't have enough heads and would need a slave unit.

May i ask what makes the GHL dosers soo much pricier than those jebao and marine magic doser ? i understand its the build quality and precision to an extent but arent they all same tech for dosing ?
 
GHL are stepper motors vs the peristaltic pumps in the "cheaper models". I've run peristaltic for years without much issues, but they have had some headaches for me.

Pulling the trigger on a GHL ProfiLux Doser 2 today. I'll wait until Christmas for the lighting purchases.

Part of me still wants to go the LED/T5 floating canopy route (which I have all the components for), but at the same time that seems like a lot of work. I'm also unsure of doing something semi-permanent like that in an apartment.

I don't normally get too into Black Friday but with an upgrade planned for April I went a little overbored. I picked up the following items:

•Insteon base unit for Insteon WIFI Webcam
•4 ATI Blue Plus
•Going to be picking up Mark's Elos Planet II hopefully sometime this weekend.
•2 × Berghia nudis
•Matted file fish
•Milli frag
•Acro frag

If you can't tell from the berghia and file fish purchase I'm currently struggling with apstasia. Hopefully that problem will go away in the very near future!
