Spartanman's cube

Looks great , looks like your thermostat may need to be moved with the heat coming off that fixture️. How do you like the color from the radium .

Haha we don't actually run the heat ever. We are on the top floor of an apartment building so we get everyone else's residual heat .

I like it alot so far it's nice and blue!

Snapped a couple crappy phone pics last night. I'm really loving this radium/reefbrite combo!

Setosa with nice branching growth

I also finally got around to finishing my DIY eclipsed ATS. It sits on the frame of the sump and drains out the bottom into the foam filter pad in the first baffle after the skimmer.

I haven't decided yet. I'll either keep him and feed him stars (likely chocolate chips or any other cheap alternative) or pass him along

Well I'm not sure why but my frogs pawn colony is not happy. There's alot of tissue falling off. my parameters are

Ca: 400
Alk: 8.0
pH:8.28
Temp: 78.1

Parameters have been extremely stable (except alk just came up from 7.7 in the last 48 hours). The only thing that has changed is I put my ATS online. my skimmer shutoff last night but I don't see that being an issue. All my SPS and other LPS are doing well.

Got home from work today and the frogspawn is opened up more. I haven't lost any heads yet so hopefully it'll pull through.

In other news, my corals seem to be responding to the halides very well. Colors seem to be darkening up (except my wellso which is still pale). Most of my acro pieces are still slowly STNing, but still displaying vertical growth. I can't figure this one out so I may just have to bite the bullet on these three pieces. My parameters have been rock solid lately. I'm starting to wonder if there are any pests, but I've seen no bite marks, red bugs, aefw, or eggs on any piece. I have tried basting them too to see if anything comes off and nada! I am going to give one of the unmounted acros a bayer dip to see if anything comes off.

When in doubt do more frequent water changes. Move the wellso out of direct light to get color back and feed it once or twice a week. Nice tank BTW

Also if you aren't running any carbon you may want to throw a bag in the sump for a while. Some leathers and other softies can release toxins that are not so friendly to SPS, especially in a smaller, mixed environment like yours. May also want to feed the SPS reef chili or another coral food if you aren't already as well.

I was running carbon and gfo but inadvertantly strip my tank of nutrients. The wellso is pretty shaded it's directly under the toadstool. The frogspawn was in the tank for a long time and flow hasn't changed so I don't think that's it.

I'm going to pull out all my acros and dip in bayer and keep in my frag to see if they improve.

Also has anyone had experience with the BM curves? Would a curve 7 be overkill on 50 gallons system volume? I would like to overskim but at a certain point you're just not doing yourself any good.

This past week the cats decided to have a death match behind my stand thus destroying my alk container. I woke up to about .75 gallons of alk solution on our floors. So, this past weekend I went about cat proofing the tank. I built an enclosure to block off the area between my stand and the wall (about 7" of space) and I also finally finished the screen top for the DT. I'll get pictures up when I get home from work.

For christmas my fiance parents bought me the DA salinity probe. Turns out I did not have the correct module. I had the SL1. So just ordered a new SL2, new radium bulb, and another MP10WES. Can't wait to play around with two mp10s, there's going to be some crazy flow in there!

I also finally received my jumbo boot tray. It's 36"×25"×2", I plan to place this under my sump to prevent any spills or leaks, and while km doing this I'm going to do a complete overhaul on my sump area. I'm still debating going with a 40b sump and no refugium or just keeping my 20L with a fuge

Why not the 40b with a fuge?

Well my 20L is setup as skimmer => return <= fuge and in the 40 I want to do filter socks => skimmer/equipment => return to give myself plenty of room for skimmer and reactors
